Identify the reported property
Ask how molecular weight is measured or inferred, which units are used and whether the value is a typical range or a release requirement. Confirm the supplier's characterization basis.
For viscosity, request concentration convention, water condition, temperature, solution age and measurement setup. A figure without those conditions cannot reliably demonstrate equivalence or superior activity.
Keep architecture and charge visible
Chain size, structure and cationic character can affect bridging, conditioning and response to mechanical stress. A matching bulk viscosity does not prove identical architecture or sludge performance.
Request the actual product code and an explanation of its place in the proposed sample set. Do not ask the supplier to combine every maximum advertised property into a grade that has never been tested together.
Check preparation and distribution
Prepare controlled stock and verify uniform hydration or activation. Record actual product mass, water, mixing and age. Check the pumpable stock condition at the concentration production intends to use.
Viscous solution can be difficult to distribute even when the polymer is well prepared. Review secondary dilution and injection contact before interpreting poor treatment as evidence that still greater molecular size is required.
Use the relevant mechanical challenge
Compare an accepted dose range on the same sludge. Include the incumbent and repeat promising conditions. For a centrifuge or high-transfer path, assess the candidate under a plant-relevant contact and shear environment.
Record liquid-stream solids, cake, throughput and handling. A gentle jar comparison may not reveal the difference that matters in production. Follow the equipment-specific approval route rather than approving on visual floc alone.
Specify identity without false precision
Agree which properties support identity and which application checks establish release. Avoid copying a competitor's numerical window into an order without a common method.
Send the document comparison and process record through the CPAM technical quotation enquiry. Keep any unresolved method differences explicit, and require technical review when a proposed replacement changes the molecular or charge profile that the plant qualified.
A method-alignment record for competing offers
Copy the original reported property and method into the comparison, including whether molecular weight was directly measured or inferred. For viscosity, record concentration units, preparation water, temperature, solution age and instrument conditions. A blank method field is a clarification request, not permission to rank the value.
Separate three conclusions: the documents are comparable, the prepared solutions are usable, and the separator results are equivalent. None automatically proves the others. Ask the supplier to identify any remaining difference before the trial, and retain the unedited source documents so later negotiations cannot quietly change the basis of the comparison.
